Architecture in Art
Originally trained in architecture at Cambridge, Peter emigrated to Australia in the late 1960s before establishing one of the country’s leading independent architectural practices. His buildings include examples such as the Echoes Guest House in the Blue Mountains and the Fernery in the Sydney Botanic gardens where echoes of his artistic style can be seen in the relationship of the buildings to their natural context.
In the 1990’s Peter lived in the artist enclave of Lavender Bay, in the historic Railway House, alongside the homes of many of Australia’s renowned artists like Brett Whiteley, Tim Storrier and Peter Kingston.
After retiring from architecture, Peter built a home in the beautiful Shoalhaven region of New South Wales that served as his artist studio. Many of his still life works represent life in and around this home. Peter produced artistic works there for over 15 years before moving to Sydney’s northern beaches shortly before his death.
